Dear King Family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your lives are forever changed as well as the family of the shooter. It is sad that we live in a country that doesn't promote tolerance and acceptance. It is also sad that many times adults who could stop harrassment choose to stay silent. Our educators have an opportunity to make a difference, unfortunately many choose to ignore that opportunity.
I'm thankful the Larry was willing to be himself. Being a teenager is a hard time in life. Being different and a teenager can be pure hell. He paid the ultimate price for being himself.
I hope that you will find comfort in knowing that Larry truly made a difference. As I remain silent along with many others on April 25, take comfort in knowing you will be in our hearts and in our prayers.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Greg

My deepest condolences to your family in the loss of your son Larry. May you know that he is with God his Father cradled in his arms, a very young soul taken before his time on earth was finished.

This is such an incredible tragedy. I cried when I saw Lawrence's picture because he looks like such a sweet and gentle young man. My heart goes out to the family. When will we wake up? There is still work to be done as far as promoting awareness and tolerance. We should have learned from what happened to Matthew Shephard, but we didn't. Now if we don't learn from Lawrence, the hatred will never end. It is up to us to make sure that another family doesn't have to suffer a loss like this. Let's make sure that Larry did not die in vain.

Words can't express how devastating a loss is, especially when it's involving a hate crime.
This Friday, April 25 2008, is the day of silence.
Please take some time to think of Lawrence as well as all of the other innocent people who were discriminated against and killed because they were gay/bisexual/transgendered.
A lot of high schools are giving out arm bands on Friday.
If you are a high school student like myself, wear one throughout the day as a tribute.
If your school is not giving them out or you choose not to wear one, be respectful and limit the word "gay" from your speech if it's NOT talking about someone who is attracted to the same sex.
(EX. "That was so 'gay'", "He/she is so gay", etc.)
Forever in our hearts & thoughts...Lawrence King.
My heart goes out to his family, friends, and classmates who loved, cherished, and respected Larry on a day to day basis.

This was a senseless act. I can not believe how this could happen. I know no words can make it easy but my prayers go out to you and your family. He looks like an Angel. My deepest apologizes for your loss.

I just got done watching a few videos on youtube...lets just say I broke out in tears. What has this world become its so sad because Larry looked happy, sweet, and gentle in his pictures and its devastating how someone could do this to such a sweet kid. My heart goes out to the family. Im still teared up and am deeply saddened. Rest in Peace.

I heard about Larry on The Ellen DeGeneres show, and I must say that his death was tragic, but his message is beautiful! Indeed, it is time for a chance in this world, and even though Larry didn't know it, he was part of God's plan to kick start that change!!! You were blessed with a beautiful child of God. You are so lucky! May you stay strong through the trying times. Larry is with you.
May peace be with you!
God bless,

He looked like such a sweet kid - a precious soul. Let's all try in our own ways to fight the hatred that leads to such violence so that Larry did not die in vain.
Rest in Peace sweetheart.

Dear King family. Words cannot express the feeling I got when I read about your late son Larry. I looked through your photos of him, He looked very handsome and honest. In my large families on both sides I have two homosexual cousins. To think people can hate someone so much for their sexual orientation discusts me. I can't even imagine the pain your enduring. Someone so young and innocent did not deserve to die for the reason he did. Homosexuality doesn't make you stick out from the crowd. We are all human, we breathe the same air, walk the same ground and drink the same water. God made us all the same.
God Rest his soul and God Bless your family and friends.
