Every person who dies in this fashion -where their lives are cut short at the whim of another human being- is the most tragic human characteristic. It is always the beautiful and openminded that are stifled by the ignorant. Just remember when you are talking about what you dislike about people to remember that even though events such as this make us question everything about the societies in which we live, the problem is not that people are different but that people are unaccepting of those differences. I am straight and from Kansas and this is just senseless and endlessly sad. Maybe someday all of humanity will understand at once that our gift and our lasting legacy should be the preservation of all life and the embracing of things that are different. Until then stay open-minded and remember the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. And all who share his namesake.
