I am so sorry for your loss. This is a horrific crime that shouldn't happen in any society. As a gay man who grew up in a small town in Missouri I know of Larry's pain. He was an amazing person. His spirit will live on forever giving strength to all of us.

I am a gay guy of 30 years and I know how hard it is to be gay in a society that promotes religious and culturally based hate. Your loss is not for nothing however; this tragic event has spurred many to reflection and to action. May your child's memory live on in the lives that are touched through this time.

Larry sounds like a remarkable young man. From what I've read and heard, to stay true to himself and never let anyone take away who he was takes a level of courage and self-awareness unmatched by most people his age. I am not gay, but I have many good friends who are, and that someone would do this to such a good person is unthinkable. Blessings to your family. And Larry, may the wind always be at your back.

My deepest sympathy, not just for the family of Lawrence but for the little boy who committed the crime and for all the other ignorant people of the world. To kill someone because they are different is a hate crime. Sexual orientation is a personal characteristic, meaning that it should not affect other people. I pray for both families as both will have an everlasting hardtime. But stay encouraged and look to the Lord for comfort.

It saddens me to see such a young child die because of who he was. Society needs to shape up and educate. I know where you are now no one will judge you Larry! I hope you have found peace.
