I'd like to express my condolences to the King family and to everyone who considered Larry to be among their loved ones. At a time like this, it is impossible to make any sense of this kind of tragedy.
As I watched the beautiful slide show of him, I saw a lot of myself in Larry, and am moved by his strength, his courage and his presence.
On Good Friday, I will be sharing a little about Larry in a worship service at the Unitarian Universalist church of Long Beach. The service is entitled "The Darkness Before the Dawn," a tenebrae service in the traditional format, where we will be focusing on modern-day executions of people who have been killed for because of who they are or what they believe.
I hate that I even have to share Larry's story. He should be with us now, continuing to spread his light.

I just wanted to express my heartfelt sympathy to the king family. This is a terrible thing to have happened, and I hope, that one day, we can live in a world free from discrimination, and that we will all be seen as equals.
Rest in Peace Larry.

....it angers and saddens me that this new genaration finds it more acceptable to be themselves and than to have hateful people take away the innocence of self expression. When I was Larry's age ...I could not dream of coming out because I knew all of the neg that came with the territory...thats was almost 20 years ago...and its sad that its 2008 and we still have such prejudices were just being yourself is a crime....I dont wish bad on anyone but I hope his killer gets the dealth penalty for the flat out murder of a child who was trying to walk in only his shoes....

Hi Larry, I am Kit from the Philippines and I am deeply saddened by your untimely death.
I cannot imagine why such shameful and ruthless act can be committed to someone like you.
You are such a nice and lovely kid and I am sure your parents are proud of you.
May you rest in peace and may God forgive the person who had sinned against you.You have friends all over the world and our prayers go with you.

If my heart breaks as a complete stranger to Larry and you, his parents, I can't imagine the pain and heartache you must be suffering at this time. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
What a beautiful child. May you forever be sheltered in the arms of God, little prince.

There's a bigger issue of how another 14 year old has access to a gun. In Canada, we have legislative laws where you must register all firearms and be licensed to use them. Is the system failing? Or is the system not even in place in the US?
Don't blame Brandon.... I could point my finger to a few people.

Words can never express the loss for the King family.
Something has to change, for EVERYONE to listen; because situations like this will only get worse before they get better.
Rest In Peace, Friend!
