My heart goes out to the family and friends of Lawrence King, and those of the gay community. Though we may not ever be able to stop hate across the world, we can however try to inform those of ignorance. I myself being one of the gay community know, that it can be difficult explaining yourself. I sit here writing this comment with tears running down my heart. I know exactly how it feels to be tormented, and ridiculed for your sexuality. I can only hope that one day we can all be 100% comfortable in our environments. yet still, i frown with disbelief. Lawrence King is now amongst the stars with other characters such as Matthew Shepard. I pray that nothing of the sort happens to any other person. I fear that something may happen to myself. I never knew that there where consequences for expressing ones self. hopefully in time, change will come, i simply hope that change is waiting around the corner; instead of my execution.

Hey Larry, As a board member of PFLAG Denver, I am completely outraged and sad that you were taken from this earth so soon. I admire the strength that you had, when you faced the adverse community that surrounded you. You are an angel and will never be forgotten. May you rest among the others that have fallen at the hands of cruelity and hatred. I leave you with this quote from a man I hold dear to my heart. It is one that I recite to myself everyday. You will be in my heart and on my mind for years to come. "We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools." Martin Luther King, Jr.

In a world so afraid of the unknown it's difficult to be yourself. No one should have to hide their true selves in fear of violence. It sickens me to see so much hate in the hearts of people. Larry was one brave individual on the front line. He will be remembered; it should not have to be this way but it is and I am truly and sincerely sorry for your loss. You will be in my heart and prayers. Just remember that you too are brave and beautiful. Good luck to you. As a future social worker my heart extends to you and your family. This is a wonderful website and the slide show was amazing. Drew

We just heard about your loss and our deepest condolences goes to Larry's family.. As for us being a lesbian couple in the gay community we need to take a stand so hate crimes will not continue. Larry had the courage that we still need.. He will never be forgotten

I am so sorry for the loss of this precious young man. It is so sad that the world will never know Larry's potential. I will do my best to stop the hate whenever I see, or hear of it.

A fitting tribute. I am weepy from it. While there is no chance of eliminating the sort of hatred Larry was killed by, we should do our best to make the weapons that can kill as difficult as possible for people to get. I'm 73 and faithfully married for 45 years and am STILL gay. As the Stonewall group has is "Some people are gay: get used to it!" Love, Anthony
