Hate is such an ugly thing...it breaks my heart to see how deadly the consequences of fear and ignorance can be. My heart goes out to the King family and all those affected by hate. Keep your heads up though, we will keep fighting for the day equality is truly universal!

I'm shocked and saddened by this news--it's 2008, so why do these senseless, horrific crimes keep happening? He seems to have been a lovely boy and my heart is with his family and friends.

I feel sad for this boy for he will never grow up and know the joys of life. 15 is so young did he even know who he was. Im gay and I didnt know until I was 17. Im glad his killer is being tried as an adult but really is that enough. Our world is changing and acceptance is growing and I think that might be the reason why more people come out and realize who they are earlier cause they feel its more accepted, the world still has a long way to go. Id like to know what the parents of Brandon said behind closed doors and I believe that 90% of who you are and how you see the world is what your parents installed in you. Larry isnt the first person to be abused verbally, physically... and he WONT be the last. There is no place in our world where it is safe to be yourself and no place where we are all treated equally. Look at MEDHI KAZEMI and his boyfriend. Im not just talking about being gay there are still parts in the world where you are less human to be a woman, different race...etc

I did not know your dear Larry, but my deepest sympathies go out to all of his family and friends in this horrible time. It saddens me to know that still in this world we can not all be accepted as equals...I have a daughter that I will love no matter how she chooses to live her life. It scares me to know that not everyone will feel the same, we need to educate our children to be accepting of everyone no matter their lifestyles. Our children are the future, we need to stop the seemingly never ending cycle of hate. May you watch over your loved ones and protect them from above Larry. Angels come in all forms, but in the past few years our angels are being taken to young! Something needs to be done! Changes made! Protecting our children isn't enough we need to educate acceptance, tolerance and love.

I didn't know Larry, but my condolences go out to his family and friends. I am truly sorry for such a horrible unnecessary loss. I only hope that one day, we won't have to see stories like this in the news. He was, from what I've read, a remarkable boy, a boy who was taken from this world long before his time and although I didn't know him personally his story will live on in the hearts of so many.
