My heart and prayers go out to all touched by this tragedy. My sister is a teenage lesbian. We will be attending a vigil for Larry.

I am a Human Services student working within the field. I am sad to realize that throughout time little has changed. Unfortunately, there are uneducated, fearful individuals that believe taking a life is more beneficial than facing their fears or allowing for diversity. IF, in fact, the situation evolved as speculated, due to a boy’s fear towards another, I am truly saddened for this young man as well. Anxiety, Anger, Retaliation, all are born from the deepest emotion of FEAR. Brandon feared Larry, maybe his energy, laughter, his love of life, or just his ability to be himself, unique, beautiful. Be sad for Larry. Be sad for Brandon as well, for he is a child; one that was brought up in a culture of fear and disbelief. Until we begin to educate where the fears reside, with parents, grandparents, those that came before us, we will not teach the child that came after. God rest you Larry and God bless those who knew you. The world was a better place, I am sure, because you were in it.

I have just been told about this tragic death of what was a brave and incredible young man who took a chance with society and tried to make them learn that people are different but we're all he same in the end. I am so shocked and I don't remember it making the news here. A tragedy in it's self? my heart goes out to all his family and to those who new him. xxx He will not be forgotten!

RIP Larry. So young and so brave. People who have so much hate inside them will be punished in this life and their next. RIP

I can't imagine the pain that Larry's family and friends must be feeling. Please know that the thoughts of millions are with you. Take care of each other.

I am so sorry this happened. I hope one day we can live in a world where people understand it's ok to be gay. That it is normal. And like Ellen said, no one is a second class citizen. I too cried when I heard the story and feel not only for the Kings, but also for Brandon and his family. That he was so frightened by another young boy's feelings for him that he saw no other choice but to kill him, speaks volumes about how we are teaching our kids to hate. Hopefully soon we can stop the cycle. May you sleep amongst angels. jahidait is normal it's ok to be gay no one

My thoughts and sympathy to Larry's family & friends. Nobody deserves this sort of fate, especially for just being themselves. Blessings to you, Andrea

Please know Little Man your passing will not be in vein, your right to care for another boy and express that will be fought for as it has been for so long. We have come along way Little Man but not far enough. I pray all of the young folks who read this will not be afraid, instead stand up and fught for Larry, fight for your own right to be whatever you are. It has gotten better young ppl but we need you to be strong and brave and join in the fight with us old folks. God bless the parents of Larry, may you one day find peace. As a community I hope we have stood next to you as mourn, as a community I pray we have respected your privacy and offered our love and support. God bless you

I heard about what happened when Ellen spoke about it on her show. I felt sick, angry, and sad. As a gay woman I cannot believe this is the world we are still living in...My heart and prayers go out to this beautiful boys entire family. God Bless you and I will do my part to ensure this doesn't happen in my community.
