I am very saddened that still today, 2008, that someone could kill an innocent person just because of their sexual orientation. I thought as a Nation we have begun to move pass all of the hatred towards our own. I am very proud to say how amazed I am at him ability to be himself and actually ask another boy to be his valentine. That had to take a lot of courage for him. God bless him and take care of him and now he will be an angel and maybe can help this world move pass the anger, hatred, bias, etc. that we still face down here on this ball of mud. May he rest in peace.

I was absolutely saddened and shocked to hear in the news that a boy like Larry killed because of his sexuality, the worst part is that the news havent reached to everyone, not even down here in Australia, Its even more sad that it took only one person who isn't with us to start this debate about violence in schools around the world. This shouldnt have happened, but now this news has to be heard, thanks to Ellen who brought it to everyones attention, i think its time to speak up and say "This Should Not Be Tolerated Anymore". Stop The Gun Culture, Stop The Bullying, and stop the Fear and Hatred. Larry you shall be missed but NOT FORGOTTEN EVER.

Larry. R.I.P your death has saddened all of us in the gay community and even in the human community. My thoughts are with your family and please know your story has touched me in Australia. I will make sure your story is shared as knowlege and understand knowlege is power. RIP mate. And thank you for being so strong at your age to come out.

Larry, You were so very brave beyond your years. Much braver than I, even at 56. My school years were the same as yours, except I lacked your courage and strength. I am so saddened by your senseless passing. Your eyes in your photos have said so much about you. Anyone who had the chance to actually know and love you are much better people for it. Sincerely, Bob

I knew I was gay since I was 8. I had my 1st boyfriend at 12. His name was Danny. He didn't know how I felt about him. I was ready to tell him how I felt but was so scared he would hate me. When I told him, I held my breath to see what he would say. He kissed me on my cheek & said he felt the same way about me. I was so happy. Later that year, I saw Danny being beat up. I jumped in to help him. I was beat up & stabbed. As I layed there, I asked him why they were hitting him. He said they found out we were boyfriends. I barely survived, thanks to Danny's help. This hate for gays has gone on too long. I cried so much when I heard about Larry. I feel so sad for his family. I want to do what I can to help them & to see that this never happens again. Larry was so young and only wanted to show his love to someone he realy cared about. Whats wrong with that? Larry, you will be in my heart always & in the hearts of many people for years to come. May God have a special place for you in heaven.

Such a sad story. It's hard to believe that this happened in the same country that calls itself 'land of the free'. The US could take some political pointers from Western-Europe regarding treatment of same-sex oriented people. Discrimination (of any kind, whatsoever) should be illegal. Weapons should not be in arm's reach of the people. My thoughts go out to all the families involved in this tragedy. Let this be the last fatal incident of hate crime.

Larry's tragic end has reminded me how important it is to accept myself and others at face value. I promise to live as a better person from now on, that way the world will evolve, one person at a time.

Words are useless when faced with a tragedy like this yet somehow we have to express ourselves through the written word. I thouroughly believe that Larrys passing has not be in vain but in some way will part of the movement towards ending hate crimes. Finding meaning in madness is nearly impossible but it is to honor Larry to believe that his death and his life has not been in vain. May he rest in eternal peace! My thoughs and prayers go out to his family and friends.
