Words simply can't express the sadness felt of hearing of the loss of a child. My heart goes out to Larry's parents, relatives and friends. I'm not a religious man but I'll say a prayer for Larry and his family.

I am so sorry to hear about what happened to Larry. Although I never met him, reading about him from those who did, gives me a very strong sense of the beautiful person that he was. We can conjecture all day about the reasons for his murder, but what's important remains the same ... he died because of another person's inability to handle his own emotions. I pray that we as a society will wake up and address this ill from which we are suffering. It's far more important than test scores ... are we teaching our children/students how to accept themselves and others, regardless of differences? We are all human beings and deserve to be treated as such. I believe that this change will not really occur until adults learn these same lessons for ourselves. In the meantime, I send healing wishes to all of Larry's family and friends. What a sad day...

Dear Larry, There are no words I can write to express my feelings. I feel so much grief. I never knew you but I feel like I lost one of my kids. I feel anger at a society that looks the other way when our gay youth are hurt. A 12 year old was brought to me by his friend. He was going to take his life because he could no longer stand the ridicule and beatings he suffered at school. When will we ever learn?
We know you are now safe in the arms of God who loves you. My wife and I prayed for you and your family. I am already using your death, and the tragic culture of hate that young assailant grew up in, to educate others. When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn? My heart is numb from sadness.
Dear loved ones and friends, thanks for loving Larry. Your love and friendship meant alot to him, and when you look up into the heavens tonight you'll see a star that outshines the rest. That is Lawrence "Larry" King saying "Thank You".

Larry was very brave to stand so alone for a cause there is no glory for. I wonder where he got his strength from. He will join the ranks of the many who were to good for this cruel world. The story saddens me because hate begins in those so young.
I hope in some way lessons will be learned that can make life easier for kids like Larry, and acceptance will replace the hate. God bless him.

This is another tragedy where a young person's prejudice and hate turns them into a killer. Gay teens have been treated badly in our schools for decades, and it's time for this bullying to stop. May Lawrence King's short life serve as the motivation to put an end to this behavior.

TO the King Family: I remember wonderful times with Larry wanting to help in the snackbar at OV. Picking up trash for hours. Also, remembering him catching butterflies and insects. A lot of the parents remember Larry watching their children at the playground for them. He was a wonderful person and he died way to young. Larry the boys will remember you forever you left a notch in all of our hearts. You are no longer hurting and can fly like the butterflies you loved so much. We will greatly miss you. I'll miss you making an effort to come by and see me in the classroom when I was there at the school.
